Tips & Information > Stainless Steel Care |
Stainless steel surfaces offer the benefits of less maintenance and better hygiene. Although they are very resistant to corrosion, they are not completely impervious to it. The chemical reactivity of the surface must be routinely addressed to ensure maximum protection.
- Always use high-quality, non-abrasive cleaners, like Weiman® Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish and Weiman® Stainless Steel Wipes, to regularly clean the surface.
- After applying cleaner, rub in the direction of the finish with a soft, damp cloth, and buff dry.
- Clean the surface routinely, rather than in a single, aggressive cleaning.
- Avoid use of metallic scourers and coarse abrasives or abrasive powders.
- Don't use metallic scourer or brushes with metal bristles.
- Don't leave ordinary steel in contact with stainless steel under damp conditions.
- Avoid contact with aggressive chemicals, most particularly chlorine, commonly used to sanitize equipment, and hydrochloric acid, which is used in some cleaning agents and process liquids.
